Plan your electricity use

Air cooler vs AC running-cost calculator.

Choose a MoonAir model, adjust your hours and electricity rate, and see an electricity-only estimate. Listed power is a starting assumption, not measured consumption or a promise of savings.

Check comfort before comparing costs

Evaporative cooling needs suitable humidity and a path for fresh air in and moist air out. An AC provides different temperature and humidity control, so a lower electricity estimate does not mean equal cooling in your room. Check climate, ventilation and model specifications before buying.

Electricity-cost questions

How is air cooler electricity cost calculated?

Units (kWh) = electrical input watts ÷ 1,000 × hours used. Cost = units × your electricity rate. This calculator treats a month as 30 days and uses the same hours and tariff for both appliances. The starting tariff and AC input are examples; replace them with values suitable for your bill and AC.

Are listed motor and pump watts actual electricity consumption?

No. Listed ratings are inputs for an estimate, not measured average consumption. Where a total power value is listed, the calculator uses it without adding the pump again. Otherwise it uses both listed motor and pump values, assuming they are separate electrical input ratings operating together. Confirm this for your exact model: a motor output rating is not electrical input, and actual draw varies with settings and conditions.

Why is no estimate shown for some MoonAir models?

A model needs a listed total power value or both motor and pump wattages. If that information is missing or incomplete, the calculator leaves its cost unknown rather than estimating watts from tank size. You can still view the model and ask MoonAir to confirm its electrical input.

Does a lower estimate guarantee savings or equal cooling?

No. The result compares electricity use under your assumptions, not equal cooling performance or your full bill. AC input varies with load and settings; evaporative coolers need suitable humidity and ventilation. Fixed charges, tariff slabs, taxes, water, purchase price and maintenance are excluded. The calculator also shows when the cooler estimate is higher than the AC scenario.
